On February 10, 2018 Siberian Federal University has become the central urban site of the international educational action "Open Laboratory", timed to coincide with the Day of Russian Science

162 participants gathered in SFU to test their scientific literacy. Another 100 participants wrote a laboratory work in the branches of SFU in Abakan and Lesosibirsk.

In 2018, the action took place in dozens of countries, including China, UK, France, Spain, Germany, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. In Russia, the "Open Laboratory" was held on sites in more than 100 cities: from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. The organizer of the action was ANO Laboratory. Among the partners of the action are the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Science Foundation, the TASS Agency and others.
