Results of the XVIth General Assembly of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia
The XVIth AEER General Assembly was held in Rostov-on-Don on March 12, 2019.
The General Assembly (GA) was attended by 49 delegates from 46 AEER regional departments, as well as more than 20 invited persons - representatives of the scientific and educational community, engineering companies, business, legislative and executive authorities and other interested parties.
Delegates and participants of the General Assembly were welcomed by:
- Pokholkov Yuri Petrovich, Professor, President of AEER, Head of the Education and Scientific Center «Organization and Technology of Higher Professional Education» of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University,
- Meskhi Besarion Chokhoevich, Rector of Don State Technical University,
- Sigov Aleksandr Sergeevich, First Vice-president of AEER, President of Moscow State Technical Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
- Andrew Wo, Chair of the Washington Accord,
- Bernard Remaud , Ex-president of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (2014-2018), Professor Emeritus of University of Nantes,
- Quadrado Jose Carlos, Vice-president of Polytechnic Institute of Porto.
The agenda of the General Assembly included the awards ceremony of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia. GA participants were informed about the awarding medals, certificates of merits and letters of appreciation to active members (the medal of Peter I "For the development of engineering and engineering education" – 2 members, the medal "For merits in the development of engineering education in Russia" – 40 members, certificate of merits – 37 members, letter of appreciation – 4 members).
General Assembly affirmed AEER Administrative Board Decision ¹1 from 12.03.2019 on awarding the medal of Peter I "For the development of engineering and engineering education" to Savinykh Viktor Petrovich, D. Sc., Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Soviet spaceman, Scientists, President of Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, and to Pokholkov Yuri Petrovich, Professor, President of AEER, Head of the Education and Scientific Center «Organization and Technology of Higher Professional Education» of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.
The active members and partners of the Association were awarded:
President of the Association Yury Petrovich Pokholkov reported on the Association activities from March 2015 to March 2019 and highlighted the main results for the reporting period in various areas:
- Organizational work,
- Seminars and conferences,
- Research,
- Scientific and practical activity,
- Professional and public accreditation of educational programs,
- Edition of the journal «Engineering Education»,
- Certification of engineering qualifications,
- International cooperation and projects,
- Challenges to AEER,
- Advanced areas of AEER activity for the period 2019-2023,
According to the program of the GA, the Chairman of the Auditing Committee Viktor Demin presented the report and made a statement on changes and amendments to the Statute of the AEER.
Then the delegates had to elect the governing bodies of the Association for the period 2019 – 2023. For the discussion of nominees and voting process by the delegates’ decision powers of the Chairman of the GA was transferred to the Meskhi Besarion Chokhoevich, Chairman of the AEER Rostov regional department, Rector of Don State Technical University.
Voting resulted in unanimous election of the President of the Association - Pokholkov Yury Petrovich, Dr., Professor, Head of the Education and Scientific Center «Organization and Technology of Higher Professional Education» of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Final part of the GA was dedicated to discussion of advanced areas of AEER activity for the period 2019-2023. Developed motions and recommendations were added to the GA Resolution, approved by delegates.
