AEER President Y.P. Pokholkov participated the International Forum in Kazakhstan, during which he held negotiations with President of the Association for Engineering Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan

From 27 to 29 October 2011 at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, the International Forum "Establishment of Research Universities and Their Role in Innovative Development of Kazakhstan", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held. It was attended by over 1,000 people from 25 countries and such international educational organizations as IGIP, SEFI, ASEE, IFEES. The Forum focused on the study of foreign experience in three key areas:

  • Establishment and development of research universities:
  • Academic mobility of students and professors
  • Commercialization of R&D and technology transfer

President of the Association Yury P. Pokholkov reported at the Plenary session of the Forum on "Principles of Establishment of the University of Innovative Type" and gave a lecture on "Strategy and Tactics for Innovative University Management" for the heads of KAZNU departments (heads of chairs, deans, directors of institutes and departments, vice-rectors) as well as representatives of other Kazakh universities participating in the Forum.

During the Forum, President of the Association held talks with President of the Association for Engineering Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Professor G.M. Mutanov, Rector of the KAZNU, on the establishment in Kazakhstan of the national system of public and professional accreditation of educational programmes and engineering qualifications certification, following the previously signed agreement between AEER, KazSEE and ENAEE on the cooperation in public and professional accreditation of engineering educational programmes. As a result of negotiations, agreement was reached to draw a work plan in this area for 2012.
